Starry night glow in the dark nail art - HPB linkup
We had a heatwave just two weeks ago and it was great when that ended and I could breathe again, but now it's starting to get hot again. So that calls for a tropical feeling nail art design! There's a video tutorial ofcourse, so click to see more!
The background gradient is made with a makeup sponge, Serum No. 5 Indi-glo, Parrot Polish Glow Grinch, Serum No. 5 Solar Power, Parrot Polish Glow Dove & Parrot Polish Ocean Blue. If you're having trouble with gradients, I outlined a lot of tips in my ultimate guide to a smooth gradient.
The buildings in the front here are made with the one stroke technique, it makes them look all 3D and stuff! Be sure to check out my tutorial on one stroke nail art basics!
All of the details are done with acrylic paint, a flat brush from eBay and my Basic One Gold detail brush from Christrio Scotland.
The part where the sun should be looks a little weird. I didn't like how Parrot Polish Dove didn't glow as brightly, so I added a bit of my DIY glow top coat over it... but that made it look even stranger! I tried to remove it but glow pigment is resilient, and it stuck firmly in place. I added some more of Dove over it and this is how it turned out. See, even bloggers make mistakes :-p
I'm in a Facebook group called Hobby Polish Bloggers and we're all, like the name says, polish bloggers! It's a great group of ladies and we all share our tips about blogging, and we help each other out. We came up with the idea to do monthly link-ups with a specific theme. We've done Halloween, fall favorites, Christmas, 'New To You' (that one was a BLAST!), Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, May Flowers and beach themed.
