Burlesque Christmas ladies nail art, HPB December linkup
Hey ladies, meet my ladies! They're having some fun this Christmas :-p I know it's a little more daring than what I usually do but hey! It's the holidays, I'm allowed to be a little crazy! Click to see more and to check out my video!
I'm in a Facebook group called Hobby Polish Bloggers and we're all, like the name says, polish bloggers! It's a great group of ladies and we all share our tips about blogging, and we help each other out. We came up with the idea to do monthly link-ups with a specific theme. We've already done Halloween and fall favorites, and this time, it's holiday/winter themed!
I painted all of this with acrylic paint and my Basic Gold One detail brush from Christrio Scotland. I mattified the whole design because there were some weird reflections otherwise that distorted the artwork, mostly the heads, and that was just too bad!
I used OPI Alpine Snow for the base, topped with Serum No. 5 Sky Lights so duhhh it glows! I know this doesn't make a special effect but I had fun going to bed with these ladies, pun intended!
I did TRY to do the faces! I tried, I really did! But faces this tiny look like something out of a nightmare. I felt like they dragged down my whole design so I gently removed them and suddenly the whole thing looked better again :-p
So I can't show you how to paint tiny little faces, but I can show you the rest! Apply your base color and let it dry. Take your acrylic paint and make easy brush strokes to make a tree. I combined three shades of green to give it some depth. Add some dots to serve as baubles and give them highlights.
When you're happy with how your tree looks, paint your lady!
First, paint the basic shape of her body with a flesh color. Keep an eye on her proportions and you'll do fine! You'll want to add shadows with a just slightly darker color, I mixed my fleshy paint with a little bit of brown. After that, give the poor lady some hair! Don't forget to leave a little spot open where her ear should be (we won't paint an actual ear) and give the hair some highlights to make it look shiny.
She needs boots! Part of her legs is cut off but you can add a little bit of red for the boots, and make a fluffy rim of fur on top of it by making a white 'square' and adding some light grey shadows to it.
Hide her little tushy by painting tinsel, just make short fast lines and it will look like tinsel :) When you're satisfied with your artwork, top coat and you're done!

I received Serum No. 5 Sky Lights as a press sample for an honest review. Opinions expressed are 100% my own and not influenced in any way other than the quality of the product itself.
