Holy moly come have a look at this! I'm very excited to show you these Doctor Who inspired nail polishes from the A Good Man collection by Ellagee! Doctor Who is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine... My last boyfriend got me hooked and I don't usually tell people I watch it, but I'm making an exception for you, my sweet wonderful ladies :D So let's
I've been eyeballing Ellagee for a loooong while now so you can imagine my excitement when she asked me if I would like to share some of these polishes with you! They are hand mixed in the US and I highly recommend that you go take a look at her shop, but be warned for the sparklies :D
Oh and did you see the adorable T.A.R.D.I.S. pendant that you get with each order that includes four or more full sized polishes of the A Good Man collection? It has a green rhinestone on top!
Trenzalore
"On the Fields of Trenzalore, at the fall of the Eleventh, when no creature can speak falsely or fail to answer, a question will be asked - a question that must never be answered: "Doctor Who?"
This polish is a grey scattered holo that has hues of green and blue to it. It's a weird color, but in my opinion, it perfectly represents the desolate feel of Trenzalore, especially when you look at the broken T.A.R.D.I.S. standing there.
But the holo, the holo you guys... I think I might just like a scattered holo more than a subtle linear one. Simply because it lights up so beautifully in normal lighting!
I'm also verrrrrry pleased with how this polish performs! What you're seeing here is two thin coats, and the coverage is awesome :D It dried SUPER fast and it was amazing how smooth this was to apply!
In the sun (where this picture was taken), the holo doesn't particularly flare up more than in regular lighting. It's pretty in either setting, and it's definitely worth staring at. And ofcourse, sticking your fingers under everyone's noses to show off your gorgeous mani!
Regeneration
"Legs! I've still got legs! Good. Arms, hands. Ooh, fingers. Ears? Yes. Eyes: two. Nose... I've had worse. Chin... blimey! Hair... I'm a girl! No! No! I'm not a girl! And still not ginger! There's something else... Something important, I'm... I'm... I'm... Crashing! Geronimo!"
For those who don't know, the Doctor can regenerate his mind and body if (when) he gets mortally wounded. This means a new actor can be put in his place, thus keeping the series potentially going forEVER. Are you tired yet?
Another PERFECTLY translated inspiration into polish. When the Doctor regenerates, a bright golden light surrounds him which transforms him into his new self. I mean... don't we all wish we could do that sometimes?
Basically, this polish is a whole bunch of white and golden flakies and it's pretty sheer, so I'm showing you 4 coats. It's really sparkly, and I thought I detected a subtle hint of holo sparkles when I looked at it in the sunlight!
One thing this polish definitely is, is shiny. It's more on the yellow-ish scale of golden tones, and it was very easy to apply. And ahhh I can never get enough of quick drying polishes! Four coats is no problemo with Regeneration. That sounded funny, didn't it?
Sexy Old Girl
"What was that? Do fish have fingers? Like a nine-year-old trying to rebuild a motorbike. What am I saying? Why am I saying that? Thief? Where's my thief? Thief!"
By this, ofcourse we mean the T.A.R.D.I.S.! You know, the blue police box (no, it's NOT a phone booth) that is bigger on the inside. Or smaller on the outside, whichever way you want to look at it. The Time And Relative Dimensions In Space. Just don't forget to take the parking breaks off XD
Yeah, I can definitely imagine taking a ride through time and space with this polish! The sparkles are ah-maaaazing, you know how much I love me some holo glotter, no, glitter! It's a jelly so you will see some of the white of your nail shine through, like you can see in my pictures. I used two coats, I didn't want to do more because drying time was a little less awesome than the other three polishes I'm showing you. Nothing serious, but a little more time is needed so keep that in mind when planning a mani with this old girl :-p
The jelly depth and shine we've gotten used to is so obvious, it blinds me! None of the glitters stick out and applying this polish was SO easy, almost no cleanup was needed! I do cleanup anyways, even when I don't think it's needed, just because I always get a little more of a crisp line than without it.
The Time Vortex
"We fell out of the vortex, through the void, into nothingness. We're in some sort of no place. The silent realm. The lost dimension."
The time vortex is kind of like a tunnel. You use it to travel through, but stuff also lives in it. It's weird. Multi-faceted. Well so is this polish!
This amazing multichrome is so amazing, that it's just amazing. I need SIX photos to show it to you, and you will still not have seen all the different sides!
It's a limited edition due to the pigment not being available anymore... that's a real shame, because I'm really impressed with this gorgeousness! I'm showing you two coats layered over black. Black always makes multichromes stand out SO well!
EDIT: The Time Vortex is already sold out, and sadly it won't be restocked because the pigment isn't available anymore. But! There's still a few bottles left of Gallifrey Falls No More! It's similar but more on the warm side of red. This one is also a limited edition so grab yours fast!
Another EDIT: Gallifrey Falls No More is also sold out!
There's a very wide range of colors that this polish will display, when lit in different ways. It reminds me of a Disney song: "Color has its harmony and just as I have said: Red yellow green red blueblueblue red purple green yellow orange red, red."
You know what.... WHY don't I just SHOW you?! Hang on to your seats, folks, because this is where the ride gets really exciting!
Maaaaaaaaaaa how pretty! It reminds me of beetles. And fire. And beetles!
The deep red metallic hue in straight-up lighting is really vampy, and makes my skin tone look awesome :D
AND THE AWESOME DOES NOT STOP!!! The next two photos have been taken under water, to make the multichrome effect stand out awesomely and gorgeously and amazingly and every other word you can think of that ends with -ly. Haha!
That brings us to the end of this review already... But the good news is, you can get your hands on these beauties for yourself! Check out the Ellagee website and also, take a look at her Facebook page, her Pinterest board, and her Instagram profile and follow while you're there!
Thanks so much for reading and don't forget to share!
I received all of the above Ellagee polishes as a press sample for an honest review. Opinions expressed are 100% my own and not influenced in any way other than the quality of the product itself.
