I wondered if I had the wrong stamping polish, but I used a regular polish by Gosh that is very opaque and it worked about as well. I've searched the internet for other people with the same trouble but it seems like everyone is a master at stamping :-p So if you have any advice for me, I'd love to hear it!

Stamping kit
I've had this stamping kit for a few months now and I haven't had the time to figure out how to use it. My first few tries didn't look so great, so I put it aside and then I forgot about it.
I thought now would be the right time to get familiar with this technique. I've seen so many wonderful manicures using stamping plates and I would love to be able to do that. I've been practicing a bit already without much success. My biggest problem is picking up the design from the plate. Somehow it just won't stick to the stamper!

You can try to filing the stamp a little so it picks up the image better, and after stamping each design you need to clean both the plate and the stamper with nail polish remover then wipe both with a tissue so that the residue from the npremover doesn't affect the design. Also, some people find it easier - and less damaging to the plate- to use an old credit card instead of the scraper provided. Hope I helped! :)
ReplyDeleteI do clean the plate and the stamper with some remover. Now I wipe the remover off too, that seems to help. I read somewhere on the internet to put more pressure on the stamper when picking up the design, that also works better. I still need a lot of practice though, it's not as pretty as many of the stamping mani's I've seen on other blogs. Hmm I guess that's a good reason to buy more plates =D
DeleteThere's two things I think of, when I read your post.
ReplyDelete1. Did you remove the thin clear layer of plastic, that covers most stamping plates when you buy them? Lots of bloggers have made that mistake of NOT removing it (because it's almost not visible), including myself. :)
2. If you already did that, then it's perhaps because you're not working fast enough. Some polishes dry really fast, and if it dries, it's impossible to pick up.
I hope this helps. Happy stamping. :)
Hehehe yeah when I first started I did forget to take the plastic off :-p But I figured that out quick enough.
DeleteI know now that I have to work faster. A lot of practice will make it easier to be quick, so that's what I'll do as soon as I get the time. =D
